Honestly, if you mess this one up you should probably just call it a day and pack it in cause life isn’t going to get much easier from here…

Let’s Get Start with Buying Ingredients

Now, when it comes to buying the yogurt and granola, try to find something low in sugar. Aim for unflavored yogurt if you can bear it, the added flavor in yogurt is usually where more than half the sugar comes from.

And oats are definitely the healthier route if you have time to toast them up for some homemade granola. If you choose store bought granola, again watch the sugar content – aim for 2-8 grams per serving.

This cinnamon yogurt parfait is great in a bowl if you are going to eat it right away, or in a Tupperware if you are packing it for breakfast at work. Which is what I usually do. If you can keep the sugar low, this is a super nutritious breakfast packed with protein, fiber, healthy fat, vitamins, potassium, antioxidants and many other health buzzwords.

How Much Does it Cost?

Now, lets get economical with this Simple Cinnamon Yogurt Parfait:

  • Tub of yogurt (32 oz.) – $7.00 (if you splurge and get something nice)
  • Pack of fruit – $3.00
  • Granola/Oats – $3.50
  • Bunch of bananas – $1.50 (damn that’s good value)
  • Cinnamon – $3.00
  • Total – $18.00

Whoa, $3.60 a day, seems kind of high at first for breakfast, right?

Nooo Yogurt

First off, let me remind you that a sit down breakfast will cost you well over $10 these days. And a wimpy coffee house breakfast sandwich will usually run over $5.00 too. Now, lets take a step back in time to a place we all miss – accounting class – and look at that fixed cost…

Cinnamon, it will provide enough happiness to last a lifetime!

Not really, but it should last you a large handful of weeks. So, you’re actual week to week total cost is more like $15.00. Breaking down to $3.00 per serving.

And if you opt for a less expensive tub of yogurt, say one for $5, now we’re talking $2.60 for breakfast. A filling nutritious breakfast all for the price of a cup of coffee!

Conclusion

No idea why this meme exists. Anyway, we hope our recipe to make yogurt parfait is helpful for you. We’ll end here. Feel free to share with your friends if you like. Cheers!

  1. The gif made me have to give this recipe a shot! It looked too easy — first, put the ingredients (minus banana for me) in a tupperware container. Second, bring to work the next morning. I must say it tasted pretty good and held me over until lunch just fine. I’d been skipping breakfast in the past but this looked just easy enough I had to try it. If you squish the blueberries with your spoon and mix before eating you get a nice purple looking yogurt 🙂
